03 Risk assessment and plans
Legal requirement Brunei's Workplace Safety and Health Act (Chapter 277) puts duties on occupiers, employers, self-employed persons and principals to take reasonably practicable measures. Where no specific penalty applies, an individual faces up to BND 200,000, 2 years in jail, or both, and a company up to BND 10 million (s 49). The regulations carry their own fines, for example up to BND 10,000 for a first risk-management offence and up to BND 20,000 or 2 years for breaching the Work at Heights Regulations.
