01Notices and PPE

The safety requirements that apply to the workplace are posted in writing where people can see and read them. UU 1/1970 Art. 14(a)
A copy of UU 1/1970 and its implementing regulations for your workplace is displayed. UU 1/1970 Art. 14(a)
Required safety pictures and other safety materials are posted in plain view. UU 1/1970 Art. 14(b)
All required PPE is issued free of charge to workers, with instructions. UU 1/1970 Art. 14(c)
Visitors are given the required PPE and told the site safety rules. UU 1/1970 Arts. 13, 14(c)

02Health checks and training

Every new or transferred worker has a health check matched to the job. UU 1/1970 Art. 8(1)
All workers have periodic health checks by a doctor appointed by the employer and approved by the Director. UU 1/1970 Art. 8(2)
Each new worker is shown the hazards, safeguards, PPE and safe ways of working before starting. UU 1/1970 Art. 9(1)
Nobody starts work until you are sure they understood the induction. Induction records are signed. UU 1/1970 Art. 9(2)
All workers are trained in accident prevention, firefighting and first aid. UU 1/1970 Art. 9(3)

03Management system (SMK3)

Headcount and hazard level checked: 100 or more workers, or high hazard potential, means SMK3 is required. PP 50/2012 Art. 5(2)
A written K3 policy is in place. PP 50/2012 Art. 6(1)
A K3 plan exists and is being carried out. PP 50/2012 Art. 6(1)
K3 performance is monitored, evaluated and reviewed for improvement. PP 50/2012 Art. 6(1)

04P2K3 safety committee

Employer and worker members are balanced: at least 3 and 3 for high-risk sites up to 100 workers, at least 6 and 6 above that. Permenaker 13/2025 Art. 6
The committee has been approved (ditetapkan) by the head of the provincial labour office. Permenaker 13/2025 Art. 7
A change of chair or secretary is sent to the provincial office within 2 working days. Permenaker 13/2025 Art. 8(5)

05Accident reporting

Every work accident and occupational disease is reported to the provincial labour office or local inspection unit. Permenaker 5/2021 Art. 8(1), as amended

The stage I report is filed within 2 × 24 hours of the accident or diagnosis. Permenaker 5/2021 Art. 8(2), as amended
The stage II report is filed within 2 × 24 hours of the doctor's letter on recovery, disability or death. Permenaker 5/2021 Art. 19(2), as amended
The P2K3 reviews the cause of each accident and keeps accident statistics. Permenaker 13/2025 Arts. 9, 10

Legal requirement

Law No. 1 of 1970 puts the main duties on the workplace manager (pengurus): health checks, induction and training, posted rules, free PPE and accident reporting. Companies with 100 or more workers, or a high hazard potential, also need an SMK3 system (PP 50/2012) and a P2K3 committee (Permenaker 13/2025). Accidents go to the provincial labour office and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan within 2 × 24 hours (Permenaker 5/2021 as amended by 1/2025). The official Indonesian texts prevail over these summaries.
