Say this

  1. Today's reading is posted here. I will check it through the shift and tell you if our work changes.
  2. If you have heart or lung disease, are pregnant or are an older worker, tell me now. You will move off outdoor work before anyone else. I don't need details.
  3. If you are given a mask, wear it the way you were fitted. Straps on, nose clip pressed, no gaps. A beard or a loose mask lets the haze in.
  4. A mask makes you work harder to breathe. We will slow down and take more breaks. If you can't breathe easily, stop and tell me. You will go indoors, not get in trouble.
  5. Change your mask if it gets dirty or damaged, or if breathing gets hard. Spares are here.
  6. Drink water often. If it is hot as well, watch for heat stress too.
  7. Tell me straight away if you get chest pain, breathlessness, a bad cough or dizziness. Sore eyes or throat count too.
  8. If you can't see well, slow down. Drivers, use your headlights. Riggers and signallers, stop the lift if you lose sight of the load.

Ask the crew

  1. What is today's reading, and what does it change for your job?
  2. Show me how you check your mask fits.
  3. What do you do if you find it hard to breathe in a mask?
  4. Who do you tell if you feel unwell?

Show them

  • Where the reading is posted and where spare masks are kept.
  • How to put on an N95 and check the seal.
  • The indoor rest area and the drinking water point.
