  1. Today's WBGT reading is posted here. I will update it every hour and tell you what it means for breaks.
  2. Drink water every hour, even if you are not thirsty. Thirst comes late. Do not wait for it.
  3. When it is 32°C WBGT or hotter, heavy work stops for at least 10 minutes each hour. Take that break in the shade.
  4. If you are new, or back from leave, you start with shorter time in the sun. This is to protect you. Do not try to keep up with the others.
  5. You each have a buddy. Check on them. Look for confusion, stumbling or slurred speech.
  6. Dizzy, sick or a headache? Stop work, go to the shade and tell me. You will not get in trouble.
  7. If someone is confused or collapses, call 995. Start cooling them with cold water and ice packs right away. Stay with them.

Ask the crew

  1. Who is your buddy today?
  2. How often should you drink water when it is hot?
  3. What are the signs that someone has heat stroke?
  4. Where are the ice packs and cold water kept?

Show them
