Say this
- Check the tag at the access point before you step on. No safe tag, no climb.
- Use the stairs or ladder at the access point. Never climb the frame or the cross braces.
- Do not move a board, rail, brace or tie. If it is in your way, tell me and the scaffold crew will change it.
- Read the load sign. Keep materials spread out and under the limit for the bay.
- Keep the platform clear. Offcuts and loose tools trip people and fall on those below.
- Mobile tower: lock all wheels before anyone climbs. Nobody rides it when it moves.
- Spot a missing rail, a loose board or a sagging bay? Get off, keep others off and report it now.
Ask the crew
- Where is the tag on this scaffold, and what does it say today?
- What is the load limit for the bay you will work on?
- What do you do if a guard-rail blocks your work?
- Who is allowed to alter this scaffold?
Show them
- Show the access point and the current tag, and read out the date and the inspector's name.
- Point out the load signboard and a correctly fitted toe-board and guard-rails.
- Show a tie and a brace, and explain what happens if one is removed.
