Legal requirement
In Singapore, a principal must make sure the contractor can do the work and has made its equipment and processes safe. If you direct how the contractor's workers do the job, you take on employer duties. Principals must also carry out and record a risk assessment, keep it for 3 years and tell affected people the risks and controls.
