Legal requirement
Under Singapore's Construction Regulations 2007, formwork must carry all loads with a safety factor of at least 2, and a trained formwork supervisor must be present whenever it is erected, altered or struck. Formwork over 9 metres high, with shores in two or more tiers, or casting slabs or beams over 300 mm thick, must be designed by a PE and certified before use. No concrete goes into PE-designed formwork until the PE has inspected and certified it.
