Say this
- We build exactly what the drawing shows. If a part is missing or does not fit, stop and tell the formwork supervisor. Do not swap in something else.
- Never take out a prop, brace or tie to make room. Ask first. Only the engineer can approve a change.
- Every shore sits on a sole plate or firm slab, and every adjustable prop is locked.
- No pour until the supervisor has checked it and the engineer has signed it off.
- During the pour, only the concreting crew stays near. Nobody stands under the deck.
- If you see a prop move, the deck sag or the ground sink, shout, stop the pour and get off.
- Strike only when you are told the concrete is ready. Bend over or pull out nails and ties as you go.
Ask the crew
- Who is our formwork supervisor today?
- What do you do if a prop is in the way of your work?
- Who can be near the formwork during the pour?
- What signs tell you the formwork is starting to fail?
Show them
- Point out the bracing in both directions and the sole plates under the shores.
- Show the drawing and how to check prop spacing against it.
- Mark the exclusion zone for the pour and the safe place to watch from.
