Legal requirement
In Singapore, excessive noise means exposure above 85 dB(A) over an 8-hour day, or a peak above 140 dB(C), without hearing protection. Where 10 or more people are exposed, a competent person must monitor noise at least every three years. The occupier keeps the report for 10 years and submits it to MOM. Exposed workers need a medical examination before or within three months of starting, then yearly hearing tests. Noise-induced deafness must be reported within 10 days of the written diagnosis.
