Legal requirement
In Singapore, the WSH Act requires occupiers to keep the workplace and its means of access and egress safe, so far as reasonably practicable. The WSH (General Provisions) Regulations require goods to be stored without blocking passageways, traffic lanes, lighting or firefighting equipment. On construction sites, the WSH (Construction) Regulations 2007 require passageways and platforms kept free of slipping hazards, debris and tripping obstructions.
