Legal requirement

SCDF requires portable extinguishers to be charged, tested, maintained in full working order and tagged to SS 578. The owner or occupier should inspect them at least monthly, and only a certified servicing company may service them. Singapore's WSH (General Provisions) Regulations also require accessible, suitable firefighting equipment and fire warning devices tested at least once a month.
