  1. Our first-aiders' names are on the notice board. Workplaces with more than 25 workers need one trained first-aider for every 100, on every shift (WSH (First-Aid) Regulations).
  2. Each floor must have a first-aid box in a well-lit spot that is easy to reach. Tell me if you use something so we can restock it.
  3. Make the area safe, then call for help. Call 995 for unconsciousness, breathing problems, chest pain, heavy bleeding, falls from height or crush injuries (MOM emergency response advisory).
  4. If the person does not respond and is not breathing normally, start CPR. Push hard and fast in the centre of the chest.
  5. Send someone for the AED while you start CPR. Switch it on and follow the voice prompts.
  6. Do not move an injured worker unless they are in danger where they lie.
  7. Stay with them and talk to them until the paramedics take over.

Ask the crew

  1. Who are the first-aiders on this shift?
  2. Where is the AED kept?
  3. Name two injuries that mean you call 995 straight away.
  4. What do you do if someone is not breathing normally?

Show them

  • The first-aid box and what is inside.
  • The AED cabinet, and how to open the AED and switch it on.
  • The myResponder app, which shows AEDs nearby and sends your location to SCDF when you call 995.
