Say this

  1. The fire alarm is a continuous ring. When you hear it, stop work and make your machine safe if you can do it in seconds.
  2. Leave by the nearest exit. Use the stairs, never the lift.
  3. Go straight to the assembly area marked on the site plan. Know the backup area too, in case the main one is unsafe.
  4. Report to your fire warden by name. Wardens do a roll call and report to the coordinator (SCDF evacuation guidelines).
  5. If you know someone is missing or hurt inside, tell the warden where you last saw them. Do not go back for them yourself.
  6. Do not re-enter until SCDF or the coordinator says it is safe.
  7. Visitors and new workers stay with their host. If you brought someone on site, you bring them to the assembly area.

Ask the crew

  1. What does our fire alarm sound like?
  2. Where is the main assembly area, and where is the backup?
  3. Who do you report to when you get there?
  4. What do you do if a workmate is missing?

Show them

  • The assembly area signs and the route from today's work area.
  • The fire warden vests and who is wearing them this week.
  • The headcount sheet or sign-in board the wardens use.
